Shopify knows the customer. WordPress follows.

1. The customer has a Shopify account

Everyone who buys or signs in at your store has a Shopify customer account. That account is who they are to RedeemID: one identity for your store and your site.

2. They sign in with it

Readers sign in to your WordPress site through Shopify’s own sign-in. RedeemID creates a WordPress user for a new customer, or links one they already have. It never sees or stores their Shopify password.

3. WordPress mirrors the account

RedeemID keeps a copy of the account on the WordPress user: name, email, whether Shopify has disabled it, and its tags. Shopify’s webhooks update the copy when the account changes. Staff can resync a customer on demand, and customers can resync themselves from their account. Nothing syncs on a schedule.

4. Tags say what the account holds

Set up Shopify Flow, or a subscription or membership app, to add a tag such as member-gold when a customer buys, renews, or upgrades, and to remove it when they cancel or expire. RedeemID does not tag anyone and does not read orders. If the account has no tag, there is no access.

5. Your rules decide what opens

You choose which tags open which posts, pages, content types, and features. A disabled account opens nothing for members only, whatever its tags. Access always reads the copy RedeemID has stored, however old it is, and changes only when Shopify sends a different one.

What members see

The Member Account block shows a signed-in customer their levels, when they joined and renew, what they get, and a link to their orders and account in Shopify.

What RedeemID does not do

It does not take payments, manage subscriptions, or grant access that Shopify does not know about. Turn the plugin off and your paywall goes with it, as with any WordPress paywall.

Try it with a development store first.

Install the plugin on a staging site, connect a Shopify development store, and sign in with a test customer account before a real customer does.

RedeemID is still being built

RedeemID is a WordPress plugin that lets customers sign in with their Shopify account and opens your site to what that account holds. It is in early development, so parts of this site are unfinished and details will change.

It is coming soon. We are looking for sponsors and for the first stores and publishers to use it.
