Time passes and gift memberships with Shopify
A time pass opens your members-only content for a fixed stretch, and a gift membership does the same for someone the buyer chooses. In both, Shopify holds the start and the end, so WordPress never needs a timer of its own.
A time pass
- Create a product in Shopify for the pass, such as “30-day pass”, and give it a product tag such as
pass-30. - Add a Shopify Flow workflow: on Order paid, if a line item’s product has the tag
pass-30, Add customer tagspass, then Wait 30 days and Remove customer tagspass. The full recipe, including a check for a newer pass bought in the meantime, is in Time pass. - On RedeemID → Access → Levels, create a Pass level for the
passtag, or let an existing level match it too. - Sell the pass on WordPress with a plan card or a buy-now button, or link to it in your store.
When the buyer signs in, the tag opens the content. When Flow removes it, access ends as the webhook arrives. To show the end date on the Member Account card, set membership.renews_on in the same workflow.
A gift membership
- Create a gift product with a field on the product page for the recipient’s email (a line item property).
- Add a Flow workflow on Order paid that finds or creates the recipient as a Shopify customer, tags them
gift-gold, sets themembership.gift_untilcustomer metafield, emails them how to sign in, and removes the tag when the gift ends. See Gift membership. - Let a level match
gift-gold.
The recipient signs in with their own Shopify customer account and their Member Account card shows “Gift membership: Until …”. The giver’s own access doesn’t change.
Before you rely on them
These Flow recipes follow Shopify’s documentation and haven’t yet been run against a live store, so check each step’s name in your Flow editor and try the workflow on a development store first. RedeemID’s part, reading the tag and the date, is the same as for any membership.
