Add Shopify products and a cart to WordPress
You can sell your Shopify products inside WordPress posts and pages and keep Shopify as the store. RedeemID adds product, collection and cart blocks, and pages for each product, collection and the cart. Prices, stock and checkout come from Shopify on every page; WordPress keeps no copy of the catalog.
What you need
- RedeemID installed and connected to the store. See Install and Connect Shopify.
- A Storefront token, with your products published to the sales channel that issued it, usually Headless. See Connect Shopify.
1. Put products in a post
- Shopify Product shows one product with its live price, an option picker, a quantity field, Add to cart and Buy now.
- Shopify Collection shows a grid of a collection’s products, a page at a time.
- Shopify Plan Card shows one plan or product with a buy button that goes straight to checkout, for a membership or a single offer.
The editor sidebar searches your catalog by title. All three are safe in cached pages, because they carry no personal data.
2. Give the cart a home
Add Shopify Cart Link to the header. The cart page at /cart/ holds the Shopify Cart block, with quantities, Remove, a discount code and Check out. RedeemID also serves a page for each product at /products/{handle}/ and each collection at /collections/{handle}/. You can change those paths under RedeemID → Settings → Storefront pages.
3. Check out signed in
At Check out, a customer signed in with Shopify is attached to the cart on the server, so Shopify checkout opens signed in and the order lands on their account. A guest checks out as a guest. See Add Shopify customer login to WordPress.
If Shopify’s WordPress plugin is installed
RedeemID runs beside it and stands down on the paths it claims. When you are ready to switch, Moving off Shopify’s WordPress plugin lists what each block replaces.
The limits
- Every change to the cart is a form post and a page load. There is no slide-out cart.
- The cart is held on the server for 14 days. It is a separate cart from the one in your Shopify storefront.
- Checkout, payments, shipping and taxes all happen in Shopify, on Shopify’s checkout pages.
