Add Shopify customer login to WordPress
RedeemID adds a Log in with Shopify button to a WordPress site. A customer signs in with the same Shopify customer account they use in your store, and WordPress gives them a user tied to that account. You don’t need memberships, levels or any gated content for this: sign-in works on its own, and gating can come later.
What the customer sees
- They press Log in with Shopify on your site.
- Shopify’s own sign-in page opens, usually asking for their email and a one-time code. RedeemID never sees how they sign in to Shopify.
- They come back to the page they were on, signed in.
- Sign out ends the session on both your site and your store.
A customer new to your site gets a WordPress user with no password of its own. A customer who already has a WordPress account is asked whether to link it. See Member accounts for both.
What you set up
- Install RedeemID. On a site that isn’t connected yet, activation opens a setup wizard that walks through the next steps.
- Connect Shopify: a Customer Account API client for sign-in, a Dev Dashboard app for the Admin API, and webhooks. The Admin API app keeps each WordPress user’s copy of the account current.
- Enter the values in Configuration, in RedeemID → Settings or as constants in
wp-config.php. - Place the sign-in button. Use the Shopify Log In block, the Log in with Shopify menu item, the
[redeemid_login]shortcode for classic themes and page builders, or the button on the WordPress login page (RedeemID → Settings → Sign-in links).
To make a page open only to signed-in customers, gate it to the built-in Signed in level. See Paywall rules.
What WordPress keeps
The customer’s name, email, account status and tags, their marketing consent and Shopify’s purchase summary are copied to their WordPress user, and kept current by Shopify’s webhooks. Staff see each customer on RedeemID → Customers. One customer account covers what that gives you.
Limits
- Pretty permalinks are required. Shopify returns customers to
https://your-site/auth-callback/, which WordPress routes only with pretty permalinks. - Linking needs matching emails. An existing WordPress user links only when Shopify marks the email as verified and it matches. Staff accounts (anyone who can edit posts) are never linked.
- It doesn’t merge accounts people already have. It stops new duplicates; old ones stay separate until the customer links them.
- Linked users keep their WordPress password. Only users RedeemID created are passwordless.
- It is Shopify only. A WooCommerce store, or any other platform, has no Shopify customer account to sign in with.
