Owners-only content after a purchase
A brand that sells physical products in Shopify can keep manuals, setup videos, recipes or care guides on WordPress for the people who bought them. The buyer signs in with the account they ordered with.
In Shopify
- Add a Flow workflow: Order paid, a condition on the product (or a product tag such as
owner-kettle), then Add customer tags:owner-kettle. Ownership doesn’t end, so there is no removal workflow, except on a refund if you want one. See Tagging customers with Shopify Flow. - Flow runs on new orders only. Tag earlier buyers once, with a customer CSV import or by hand.
In WordPress
- Create one level per product line, such as Kettle owners for
owner-kettle. A level can match any of several tags, so one Owners level can cover every product if the content is shared. See Access levels. - Gate the owner pages to the level, and leave a short public version for search. See Paywall rules.
- Protect manuals and videos with Members holding Kettle owners. See Protected files.
- Link the owner pages from the order confirmation email in Shopify, using the return link under RedeemID → Settings, so buyers come back signed in. See Bringing customers back after checkout.
Limits
- Gifts and second-hand owners aren’t covered. The tag goes to the customer who placed the order. Add it by hand for anyone else.
- It needs the customer to sign in. A guest checkout still creates a Shopify customer, and they sign in with the email they ordered with.
- RedeemID never reads orders. Flow decides who owns what.
